2nd Annual I.A.M.H.E.R. Donation Drive

Influencing Achievement and Maximizing Hope, Excellence, and Resilience

MUSKEGON, MIDecember 1, 2020 – WUVS-lp 103.7 the Beat & WUGM 106.1 are excited to announce the 2nd Annual I.A.M.H.E.R. (Influencing Achievement and Maximizing Hope, Excellence, and Resilience) Feminine Hygiene Drive. Inspired by last year’s outpouring of help, we decided to challenge ourselves once again and help those in need. Thanks to your generosity and donations, we were able to help hundreds of young ladies of the Abeadeze Kyeakor village in Ghana, Africa. These ladies currently live without the everyday essentials we often take advantage of, such as, sanitary napkins (pads), liners, feminine soap, and other items.

The average income in the Abeadeze Kyeakor Village for a family of 4, is $600 per year. This drastically affects their ability to purchase necessary feminine hygiene products. Each young lady within the village is limited to the use of one sanitary napkin. This means they must wash or reuse what they already have. Additionally, these families struggle to provide other expenses such as school tuition, shelter and the basic necessities of food and water. The lack of hygiene products interferes with participating in their daily lives and activities. They’re also forced to miss school during their monthly, which ultimately interrupts them from receiving a proper education. “Your gift will provide much needed essentials in our village and make an enormous impact in these young ladies lives”, said Gilliam Dodoo, Executive Director of the Bernice Mayes Memorial Academic Improvement Project, a Registered NGO in Ghana.

You can help! From Thursday, December 3 to December 17, 2020, 103.7 WUVS the Beat and WUGM 106.1 will be accepting donations of new feminine sanitary napkins, liners, and feminine soap for the young ladies within the Abeadeze Kyeakor village. All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible! This campaign is part of the Bernice Mayes Academic Improvement Project.
